PLEASE READ: Front Desk etiquette

Hello all,

This is a brief reminder about etiquette while working at the front desk.

  1. Remember to ALWAYS be polite and courteous.  While working at the front, you represent the <UN>, and, as such, your actions represent the actions of the <UN> as a whole.  Please do not be rude to prospective recruits, agents requesting admittance, or fellow coworkers, as your actions and words will be seen by prospective members as well as those sitting in front of you.  Even if there is no one sitting directly in front of you, visitors can still see what you are saying, and will judge the <UN> accordingly.
  2. If someone sits in front of you, check to see whether they have a valid <UN> badge before asking whether they have a job.  If they already are a valid member of the <UN> (e.g. a Special Agent [3k]), they probably don't need to become a trainee again.  So don't ask them to.
  3. If no one is waiting in the lobby, don't offer a job to the empty air.  You can be assured that the waterfall will NOT choose to join the <UN>, regardless of how well it pays.
  4. Wait until someone new appears in the lobby's thrones before asking whether they are interested in a job.  They will not be able to see conversation that takes place in the room before they arrive, and they probably won't check the room's conversations as soon as they arrive--they'll wait for the room to finish loading, at the very least.  So wait to offer them a job.
  5. Do not try to offer a job to the person sitting at your neighbor's desk.  If your neighbor is in the middle of walking the recruit through how to join the <UN>, do NOT join in, unless requested.  Doing so is distracting to the recruit at best, and confusing at worst.  Many recruits are new to Habbo, and are just learning the layout and how the site works.  Forcing your way into your neighbor's training, simply put, is not helpful under ANY circumstances.
  6. If you are having issues with someone sitting at your desk, stay calm.  Find and get the attention of, or contact a superior.  If this fails, ask the person to wait (politely), and go to the Help Desk.  Ask for help there, and, if someone is behind the desk, they should be happy to help you.  If there is no one at the Help Desk, ask for an administrator's help.  If worst comes to worst, an admin can kick a problematic visitor from the room.  Do NOT be impolite to the visitor if he or she is being rude.  This will only make things worse.
  7. Most importantly, DO NOT AFK AT THE FRONT DESK.  The seats in front of the Security Desk, as well as the Red Thrones, are available 24/7 in case you need to step away from your keyboard.  If you need to walk away to do anything more time consuming than blowing your nose, this is considered being AFK.  At the very least, announce that you are stepping away (by saying "AFK") and step away from the desk.
  8. EVEN IF YOU HAVE THE HELMET, DO NOT AFK.  Although the helmet is desirable and hard to get, once you get it, this does not mean you have permission to relax and AFK.  Failure to remain alert at your desk may lead to booting by an administrator.

If you follow these etiquette guidelines, everyone will get along much more easily.  Thank you.
