[DOF] How to build up self confidence.

Hello everyone, PinkPolka9182.. here.

We all have come into someone or something that has knocked our confidence a bit, it could be that you're at school and getting bullied, or you try something new and don't get it right as you wanted it to. All these can take away some of our confidence leaving us feeling sad, upset or even angry with ourselves and when we feel like this we don't know what to do next losing confidence further.

I am here today to give you some tips on what to do next when you are feeling quite low because something or someone took some confidence from you.

One of the things I learnt was to replace negative thoughts with positive ones. How I can actually change my thoughts, and by doing so make great things happened. With this tiny little skill, I was able to help others with their confidence and doing so kept building mine up more and more.

I have seen people often make the mistake of shooting for the moon, and then when they fail, they get discouraged. Instead, shoot for something much more achievable. Set a goal you knowyou can achieve, and then achieve it. You’ll feel good about that. Now set another small goal and achieve that. The more you achieve small goals, the better you’ll be at it, and the better you’ll feel. Soon you’ll be setting bigger (but still achievable) goals and achieving those too.

I feel instantly better when I smile, and it helps me to be kinder to others as well. A little tiny thing that can have a chain reaction. Not a bad investment of your time and energy

What’s on your to-do list that’s been sitting there? Do it first thing in the morning, and get it out of the way. You’ll feel great about yourself.

Doing something is almost always better than not doing anything. Of course, doing something could lead to mistakes … but mistakes are a part of life. It’s how we learn. Without mistakes, we’d never get better. So don’t worry about those. Just do something.

You might automatically put yourself down.

But learning to identify and challenge your negative self-beliefs can have a positive impact on your self-esteem. It can helpful to ask yourself: "would I talk to, or think about a loved one in such a negative way?"
