Britain Could Be Set For Four Months of Snow In 'Coldest Winter of The Decade'

Do you remember the record-breaking hot summer? But do you also remember the Beast from the East? Well... experts are saying that this coming Winter could bring ice blasts much colder than ones earlier this year.

Some people love the snow, some people don't. However, love it or hate it, the United Kingdom could be in for a lot worse than earlier this year. Due to clashes of Atlantic and Arctic air, it could produce extended ice storms over some parts of Britain. According to weather experts, Britain could be facing up to four months of snowstorms, facing it's coldest winter in a decade. Despite the heatwave we recently had, experts say that this winter could be much colder than the Beast from the East. When? Temperatures could go decrease rapidly as early as November due to low-pressure systems. The happening of an El Nino warming of the eastern Pacific Ocean and changes in air patterns over the tropics could also leave the country in freezing temperatures through December, January, and February.

If this is true, the coming winter could be similar to the big freeze of 2010, which saw the coldest December since records began in 1910. Long range forecasts only give us a rough indication of what's to come though. James Madden told the paper: "All our long-range projections have been showing for quite some time that December is likely to be a colder than average month overall and we are expecting several widespread snowy periods.' and 'This year we are expecting potentially hazardous winter conditions from early on in the season."

These low temperatures are caused by a period of low solar activity which may throw jet streams of warm air out of control and cause a Sudden Stratospheric Warning which caused the Big Freeze in 2010 and last years Beast from the East. A spokesman for the UK Met Office said: 'El Niño years are one factor that can increase the risk of colder winters in the UK."

When I saw this news, I was shocked. Is it to believe that it will actually happen? Will it happen? That's the question though. As much as we love time off work & school, it can cause major risks to health. What do you think will happen this year. Do you think that Britain will be plunged into this coldness?
