So I’m a glasses wearer. I have been for almost seven years maybe? Although I didn’t use to rely on them as much now until three years ago as I used to just use them to see the board from afar in school. It was then when college started that I started to wear contact lenses religiously (prescribed ones) and found myself having to rely more on my glasses. I feel incomplete and blind without either a pair of glasses or contact lenses when I am out, I mean I can still kind of see although it’s all quite blurred and fuzzy. I don’t mind wearing my glasses or contacts when I am out as I rely on them so much but what I struggled so much on is when I am out in the beach or pools. I normally find it a struggle whether to wear contacts or glasses. Many recommends just keeping contacts on (I wear daily so it’s easier) then disposing them straight after the swimming session but I have tried that and found that my eyes were in discomfort not long going under the water. Moreover, I have also tried just wearing my glasses and taking them off when I go under but it was a real struggle. The water splashes on the lenses so you have to try and wipe it but you don’t have anything dry because you’re in the water and it’s just almost impossible, for me at least.
I love going for a swim but I don’t like not seeing anything and struggling to see people and what they look like and who they are. Hence why swimming for me has become quite awkward because I haven’t sort out how to solve such problem, at least for me it’s quite a dilemma.
What about you? Are you a glasses wearer? Have you experienced such thing if so, how did you/do you manage? Comment down below your thoughts, opinions and maybe suggestions.
i am a glasses wearer too, and i struggle with what to do for the best with swimming. I suffer from stigmatism and also i cant see close up. When i dont wear my glasses i feel like i am double the height , so i dont feel safe. I always just wear my glasses and then clean them when i get out. It can be a pain though ! When i was younger i used to do swimming lessons and wearing swimming goggles was not a nice experience !
