Most of UN has completed high school and maybe even college, but I haven't completed either. I'm going to start high school in August and I doubt that everyone will be singing about sticking to the status quo and getting their head into the game. The media almost never depicts it as marvelous wonderland where everyone is nice and happy because it isn't. There's underage drinking, juuling, and girls getting pregnant at 14. What a wonderland.
In middle school I would have every main subject everyday with extra classes like art, theatre, band, choir, etc. on alternating days. Now I (think) have 4 subjects each term and the semesters are different classes. This means I'm in classes for longer, but I'm not in them for the whole school year. I also have to earn credits from my classes to be able to graduate. High school will be completely new territory and will be almost nothing like middle school.
I could join clubs, but I don't want to waste my time outside of school. People are big about joining a sport, but I don't want to spend my time kicking around a ball. I feel like I should focus on my grades and try not to walk right into the student loan debt when I graduate from high school, but it seems inevitable.
If you have any advice for high school, please share it down below in a comment. Maybe there are things I should prioritize more than others or maybe I'm stressing over something that isn't important. Anything could be helpful.
Don't just focus on studies, join a club and do something else. I'm not sure what you will be doing in your future but it's always good to have any additional skills not only for you to have a better chance of joining good uni/colleges but also it will be a good experience and something that might potentially help you in your future. After you finish high school you'll realise most of what you studied is useless so... sksksk
i see you dont want to get into clubs or sports, but doing both of those things can defenitly help you with NOT being in student loan debt if you really get into them. doing somthing other than focusing on your education will not affect your grades or anything as long as you know how to keep a balanced scheduale. coming from someone who got a track scholarship, i kept my grades very high throughout highschool while still being involed in basketball, track and marching band but if you know that you cant balance those things than just focus on your grades and classwork and dont make dumb decisions that will affect you later on! also dont date seniors ;) highschool can be fun aslong as you dont care about peoples opinions and make good decisions!
High school is like anything tbh. Its a confusing time for us all and you're really coming into yourself as a person that won't really stop till your an adult. While I understand you want to focus on academics is awesome. Trust me it should be the number one priority in high school. You'll be given a lot of opportunities to grow as a person in this new strange place. Your friends will change, your values and what you like to do will change. My best advice for you is to always to look for opportunities when you're in high school. Ya joining a sport or a club is a lot of responsibility, but trust me you'll love it. I had the opportunity to be part of my school's radio station and I really fell in love with it and I'm glad I took part in that opportunity. So don't make your decision right now not to get involved and just pursue any opportunities that come your way.
The only thing I can tell you is ...
Enjoy the ride. Take it a day at a time.
You strike me as someone who knows her priorities and from what you've mentioned, it is quite evident that you know what needs to be done.
So since you already have that figured out, everything else will just be a breeze for you. Just take it a day at a time. If you need to study for an exam, then go study. Extra-curricular activities are always a good thing. Here, if you excel in a sport you can land on a scholarship; that would be of help to less student debt. Not only sports, academically, if you excel, it would be alot easier to get into Universities. Bottomline is, highschool life only happens once, make the most of it .. have fun when the situation presents itself, but know your limits and priorities. Other than that ... It would be a breeze for you Joyce. Good luck ..I know you can do it.
I would suggest joining some kind of club or activity even though you expressed you where not that interested, it can help you to meet people with similar interests and you can make some new friends. Honestly even one good friend can make your time in highschool so much better.
