[DOF] Do You Lie?

Have you ever encountered a “Do I look fat in this dress?” situation, or something similar to it? A situation where you find that lying seems like a better alternative than telling the truth, where lying makes everyone happier than the hurtful truth that can possibly cause unnecessary tension between you and your friends or family.

Let me be honest with you, ironically.

I lie. A lot.

To me, lying is already part of my life. Sometimes, I just do it unknowingly. I don’t feel bad about it, because it’s so deeply ingrained in me. Now, don’t go thinking badly of me. I’m sure all of you, at some point of time, would have lied and don’t worry, I don’t lie (much) on Habbo. Because there’s really no reason to. I lie only when there’s a reason.

White lies? Not exactly what I would call it.

At home, I lie. I lie when my mum asks me how my day went.
I tell her, “it was fine,” even when it’s not.
I tell her, “I’m not hungry,” even when I am after a long day work.
I tell her, “I’m not tired,” even when I’m exhausted.

At work, I lie. I lie when my customers ask me questions.

I tell them, “I’ll go check at the back” even when I know there’s no stocks left.
I tell them, “This product is pretty popular among your age group” even when I have no idea of how old they are.

I tell them, “The sale will end very soon” when I know well enough it will last another two weeks.

At a party, I lie. I lie when my friends ask me to do wild things with them.

I tell them, “I’m not drinking today” knowing well enough I’d be chugging down vodka straight from the bottle in less than two hours from then.

I tell them, “No thanks, you can have them,” even when I’ve been staring unconsciously at their plate of food.
I tell them, “You killed it!” even when their dance moves on the dance floor were executed awkwardly.

I lie for many different reasons. Intentionally and unintentionally. Honesty is the best policy, but it does bring many consequences. In my life, I have a good balance of both lies and truth. Of course, more truth than lies.

How about yours? What are some common lies you always tell in your life?

Ohmy

What I often tell the most is "in a minute" whenever I have some things to do (either chores or school-related stuff like studying or doing my papers). Of course, this is just a way to impede things, but nothing's going to change unless I do them. So, to everyone, don't be a sloth like I am sksksksksks.
