[DOF] Favourite Desserts?

Favourite Desserts by Cyndii.

Everyone has a secret sweet tooth or a sneaky naughty side when it comes to a personal preferred dessert. You may notice as you grow older your taste buds might change slightly or you might start to develope a mouth watering obsession or craving for a specific kind of dessert. Growing up in an extended much large family, I was always forced to try new different foods and desserts within the Asian culture. So I was always exposed to different coloured and smelly desserts, some even including meat. We all will experience different sorts of dessert growing up and depending on where you live, your culture and who fed you, we will all enjoy different things. I have always been a savory dessert person and I love my cheese and dip with crackers and dried fruits and sometimes even a glass of wine on the side. After a long week of stress or when I feel so overwhelmed I can always rely on a nice cheese platte on a nice relaxing Friday night while I binge watch a couple of chick flicks and have a little cry, just to wind down a little bit through the rough week. Yes, I am "that" sort of Melbourne girl, but as many of you guys may know I am currently pregnant which limits the sort of foods I can eat and enjoy. So goodbye cheese plattes and wine and hello a lot of random, weird, new desserts and cravings! So, what sort of desserts do I crave now that I am pregnant and what sorts of food makes my mouth water and dribble. When I say "weird", I actually mean weird, so please do not be surprised.

1. Cupcakes & Cakes
Honestly, the first 9 weeks of my pregnancy I was literally LIVING off cupcakes and cakes, any sort of cake I would eat. For someone who did not like cake or icing for more than a century, I would be eating cake for breakfast, lunch and dinner and I had NO shame.
I loved the soft icing feeling in my mouth and biting into it, it was just so satisfying and I just loved the richness

2. Toast with strawberry jelly and cheese
So you guys have heard of peanut butter and jelly, right?
Well have you tried jelly and cheese? I think the salty and sweet taste and texture to it makes my mouth water and its such a unique taste, and rich satisfying taste to eat. Doesn't matter if you eat it with toast or normal bread, it's just so great. Weird, right?

3. Green apples or green mango with chilli salt
What on earth is chilli salt? traditionally being Vietnamese we're all exposed to a lot of spices at a very young age. So there is no hiding when it comes to chilli, I actually own my own Vietnamese chilli plant. Chilli salt is literally a bowl of salt with a raw chilli or two cut into it and mushed into the salt creating salt with a touch of added spicey juice to it. A massive craving of mine lately would be green apples or raw mango dipped in chilli salt, my taste buds find the burning sensation in your mouth from the chilli mixed with the sweet taste of fruit and saltyness very amusing.

Thank you for taking your time and reading my main 3 favourite desserts while being pregnant, feel free to comment and share your experience in trying different foods, and comment what YOUR favourite dessert is. There is no judgment, I would love to try some of your whacky weird cravings and what your taste buds desire too!

Omg all i craved was sweets in my pregnancy, and my daughter came out to always wanting something sweet, but my favorite dessert has to be cheesecake with cherries on top and brownies with walnuts and chocolate chips inside. Yummy my mouth is getting watery haha :D

Desserts ...

OMG, that made me salivate.

Honestly, I don't have a specific fave dessert.
Having been brought up by my parents as eating whatever is on the table, which to most Filipino household, there isn't really a dessert on a daily basis.  Desserts here are more commonly served during occasions, like birthdays, baptisms, weddings, reunions and all those gatherings. I guess the simplest dessert we "normally" would have when my parents have received their 15/30 salary is a tub of ice cream. And since they bought it, it's always their flavored choice, which is usually Ube (or purple yam) or Halo-Halo (mixed fruits) or Queso (Cheese).

Now I want to get some ice cream, your fault Cindy :P

Nice thread tho ...
