The Gift

I have always been fascinated by dreams.  When I was a small kid, every time I had high fever, I would have this nightmare of stampeding elephants and I would get run over. I always ended up crying the minute I get awakened; my mother was always around to comfort me and assure me that everything was okay, that it was only a dream.  As I got older, I began to research on the meaning of that particular dream and as I read on I got more interested in them and the meaning it conveys.  Although at that moment I felt it had nothing to do with my fever and I was probably having hallucinations brought about by the elevated body temperature.

Me taking dreams and it's interpretation to a whole new level started with one simple dream; finding a letter in the mailbox.  What made me remember this dream was the envelope the letter came in.  After a few days in between downpour of rain, my mother asked me to check the mailbox and voila, there in the midst of bills and other correspondences addressed to both my parents and other family members, I saw this familiar envelope, just like in my dream; it was from my best friend who at that time was already based in USA.

In pure excitement, I told my mother about my newly discovered "talent" and bragged about being able to tell the future through my dreams.  She smiled a bit, pat my head and said "sure sweetie". I took her skepticism as a challenge and vowed to prove to her my ability.

I started consciously trying to remember each and every dream on a daily basis. Some were too vague and unclear that I immediately forgot about even before I realized I was already awake.  Then came another, yet somehow similar dream; I dreamt of opening the mailbox to find it empty, frustrated I reached in to feel it's emptiness and there my fingers grazed over what felt like paper and yes it was an evelope.  When I woke up the following day I told my mother about the dream and waited patiently for more than a week for that "stuck" envelope to happen; it never came.  I felt defeated of my mission to prove my to her. Then another dream came, this time around letters started gushing out the mailbox when I opened to check, clearly more than a dozen envelopes where in there and it always made me happy seeing so much letters, and not just bills. Unlike before, I decided not to tell my mother about it to avoid embarassment and three days later, unconsciously checking the mailbox, it happened, envelopes just dropping all at once to my feet. I screamed, running back into the house I told my mother of my discovery. I had the ability to tell the future through my dreams, as long as I do not tell anyone about them before it comes true. And what did I get from my mother?  I got a reaction similar to a LOL.  She said it seems I have a super power similar to invisible man, the catch; my powers only work when there is no one around.

As I got older and got busy with school, I paid less and less attention to my dreams until one came along.  I was in a sophomore in university when I dreamt of getting into a car. I remember the dashboard particularly, the seat cover, the smell of a brand new vehicle. But like most dreams I had at that time, I brushed it aside and did not really think of it as something big.  Approximately two months after, my father woke me up from my nap and told me to follow him.  So I got up and went outside the house.  And there it was ... a brand new car sitting in our garage.  I smiled the moment I opened it's door, sliding in, the dashboard, the seat cover ... everything exactly the way it was in my dream.  I do not remember if I was smiling so wide because of the brand new car, or because I dreamt of something big and it came true, I knew I have a gift.

Over the months and years after that, I paid more attention to my dreams again, kept silent about the good ones that I wanted to come true and told everyone about the bad ones oddly thinking that if I do tell someone, the bad dream will not come true.

A year and a few months after I graduated from university, I dreamt of bumping into someone while window shopping at the mall, but at that time I was not aware of who this person was, until months later,  on my way to see a movie with my boyfriend then, we bumped into his bestfriend, the same person I saw in my dream.

Two months after that  I dreamt of walking down an unfamiliar street, I stopped by a green gate, went inside, went up the stairs and into one of the bedrooms, I saw a coffin, a girl standing sobbing, I went near and looked inside; I saw my him, my boyfriend then.  I was crying when I woke up, called him immediately, narrated my dream and told him to take care.  Month passed, two weeks before Christmas, I went with my boyfriend to attend his sister's birthday.  The minute I got off the bus, goosebumps all over my arms; the familiar street. I told him I knew which one was their house .. the green gate.

Until now, I still have dreams that come true. Eventhough I know most of my relatives and friends do not believe of my gift, I continue looking up the meaning of my dreams and noting the ones that come true and the ones that do not. As I look up my dreams' meaning, I  understand why I dreamt of them in the first place.  I believe that dreams are trying to relay a message to us. For me a dream can bring good news and a warning for the unknown.

How about you, ever had a dream that came true? Or a recurring dream that you do not have any idea what it means? Write it down on the comment below and let us talk about it.

I Love this!!

well...

An arguable discourse. I wish to say my thoughts but ... you know me. sksksks. Anyways, There's so much to it than just being "dreams"; I've also encountered this a while back which fascinates me whether it's serendipitously coincidental, or something else.

my dreams,,,, are always bad,

I research about dreams too! I always dream in color (weirdly, people dream in black and white, which I just knew this year) which means that it would happen. I can control what I can do in my dreams without lucid dreaming. I just sleep normally and I could ALWAYS control them unless I choose to just watch. Scary though that I always dream about car crash-- me in the car, me being crashed by the car, someone being crashed by a car, our car being crashed in a post or barrier. Anyway, I love this forum so much, I can relate!

I had a dream about a girl

I had a dream about a girl getting hit by a train and on the way to school 2 weeks later it happened.
Dreams are facinating things

Wow

I experience the same things, but I just feel like I'm crazy or that I was just imagining things. Glad to know that there are other people that get how I feel :)
