From the Canadian drama franchise, Degrassi, DeGrassi: The Next Generation is a fourteen season television series that follows the lives of a group of high school students from the Degrassi universe. The show deals with numerous topics including school shootings, drugs, drinking, rape, gangs, sexual assault, suicide, murder and many other controversial yet important topics of our generation.
Unlike other television shows where it encircles around one or only a handful of characters, DeGrassi: The Next Generation switches between characters on the show to showcase the many perspective that each of them face - explaining their rationale and dilemma for their every action. It is a show with no villains and many heroes, as we relate ourselves to some of these characters.
Throughout the seasons, the characters also grow and change. They mature through experiences just like we do and I felt that the producers of the show did really well on that part in portraying the maturation of every character.
